How many of you guys are running XP with 128mb ram

I am just wondering since that is the reccomended amount by M$

Note like it's a problem for me though since I have 640mb ram.

Just curoius how xp fairs with 128 mb ram.

My company purchased Dell computers that came with Windows XP and with only 128 MB RAM. They will function fine initially depending on the apps you use. When we started installing applications such as SQL Server 2000, Visual Studio 6 and Visual Studio .NET...oh boy did it start getting ugly. One thing we did do was turn off the visual effects in XP such as shadowing under mouse, translucency under icons, etc etc under the performance option and it did help a little bit. We ended up buying extra memory modules to bring every machine to 256 MB RAM.

Here is a good place to start. It gives some of the items you don't need running and how to shut them down.
