    Mines ATI 7000

    32 MB DDR AGP.
Also got an athlon xp running @1.62 GHz. The new ABIT KR7A-133 RAID. Im using 256 MB DDR RAM. I think it is my ATI Radeon 7000 that is holding my score down to 2239 on 3DMark2001SE. Because I've seen people getting 6500 socres with crapper cpu's and mobo's than mine, but with gefore3 ti200's......which i'm going to purchase soon, the 128MB DDR one from Sparkle.

Those scores seem a bit low for your system considering what I get for my Pentium II. I think we've already talked about this in an older thread. In anycase, here's a partial configuration of my Dell pc.

    Dell PII-350MHz
    Intel SE440BX motherboard w/ Dell bios A13
    320 MB RAM PC-100
    Windows ME
8.1g Seagate 5400 rpm hard drive
ATI Radeon 7200 64 MB video (oem 155/155)...
    w/ ATI driver version 4.14.9009

    3dMark2001SE - 1053

If you're using a slow hard drive, that could influence your 3dMark scores. Also, be sure to check out Rage3d's website because they just released a new version of their Radeon Tweaker. You can find it here
Also, check out ATI's website because they released new sets of drivers for Windows on March 20th. You can find the correct driver here

I've downloaded everything above, but I haven't had the chance to install and play around with the overclocking utility. Will post back later with some initial results (if any) when I get the chance.

Well, I've run 3dMark2001SE a few times after installing the latest Rage3d Radeon Tweak Utility and ATI reference driver 4.13.9016. I overclocked my Radeon 7200 from 155/155 to 180/180. After 5 runs at default setting, I averaged out the scores and the number came out to 1077, which is about 24 marks better than my previous configuration (non-overclocked video card and older driver). Not a really good gain after overclocking the Radeon 7200, which leads me to believe that the Pentium II processor is the limiting factor here. I still need to find a way to overclock the motherboard since its using a Dell bios.

theres somthing up with my rig then. Could anything else be up. its not just 3Dmark im only using that as a rough guide. Its games in general. Hell the original Driver game wasnt released when the p2 was out and a 64MB graphics card then would have been unheard, and i cant even get that to play smooth at 1024x768.

Also ive just downloaded 3Dmark2001SE+Directx8.1, and with my Radeon clocked at 190/190 and my P2 this time at 550MHZ coz it was gettin a bit hot. I only got 535 3Dmarks at 1024x768 and 580 at 640x480. any ideas guys,i have the latest drivers etc are there any specific ATI benchmark programs so i could see if its the card which is not working properly of if its my system

    Hi tricktx,

Seems to me there is something wrong with you machine. The scores shouldnt be that low. What the problem could be, I could only guess...

This is not a p2 or p3 score but Athlon 800 TB paired with Radeon 7200 64Mb sdr... but I'll post it just for comparisons sake. All default. I later tried 1000Mhz TB with the 7200 and it only resulted about 200 more points.. was easy to spot the bottleneck there.

    Hi tricktx,

Sorry but I doubt there is any Ati only benchmark programs.
3D Mark is, like other game type benchmarks, only truly accurate when tested on same system with different configurations.

If you think your system is really underperforming with Radeon 7000, try another videocard. Old radeon chips aren't really state of the art anymore even they still do perform well enough for some of us. I understand that you really only want to know if your card is working as well as it should but lets be realistic - if you really are after powerboost... new card is simple, heck even pretty affordable solution.

I just upgraded my 800 Mhz Athlon cpu to 1333 Mhz Athlon for 65 Euros ... and about month ago I was still looking for better cooling solution to overclock my old chip... would have been pretty silly with the hardware prices what they are now.

Anyway good luck with your project.

    Andy

hi, im not wanting my machine to be as quick as ben johnson, but i sure its underperforming. like i said. i installed the original Driver(game) and with a P2@550 and a 64MB card ,which at the time ant even heard of as well as a 550MHZ cpu, it wont run at 1024x768 smoothly, i can run it at 640x480 but im sure with that spec for such an old game theres summer wrong. Ive completly foramated and tried various drivers. But im stumped and the guy at the shop wont swap it because theres nothing physically wrong with it

    mines a
64MB SDR and i know it isnt as fast as DDR but it shouldt make the difference between good and ****. Also the card i have clocks at 190/190 with no problems, and its still ****e. My geforce MX 200 with 32MB which clocked at 140/150 was faster than this. Im gunna just chuck the dam card in the bin and put my Voodoo3 back in
