    NT 4.0 server hangs

I have an NT 4.0 server which was running fine for several months. I recently installed IIS and MS Proxy server to allow access to the internet for 5 of the 15 workstations. Since the installation of IIS an MS Proxy server, the server hangs so that only a hardware reset will bring it back to life. I am running service Pack 6a, IIS and Proxy server as I mentioned. I also have TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBUI and Netbios protocols running. I must run all of these on one card due to a printer server that only recognizes IPX/SPX.

I have 2 network cards, one for internal stuff and one for external stuff(IIS). The external card has NETBUI disabled.

I have also noted that the IIS logs are corrupted after the restart.

If you need anymore info, I would be glad to provide.

Does Event Viewer tell you anything? I know, I know...Event Viewer tell us too much most times. Check Applications and System and see if there are any new, repetitive events since the "upgrade".

It could be coincidence and you may have a hardware problem instead.

Personally, I think that having Proxy and IIS on the same machine is a mistake.

You can try to reapply service pack 6a.
The IIS & MS Proxy installation may have replaced the service pack's files.
