i've been thinking about that myself... no beer in the house for the last few days--only alcohol i could find was a limited vintage chardonnay worth about $400 (not really a special enough occasion to drink it)...
god bless these old rascals here--6 cases of beer and 2 cases of wine just walked through the door, and people are going back outside for more!

Ok, here is where I'm at. I had to reinstall the OS because I had some msdos.sys conflicts and wanted to have a clean system. Man, this **** Win95 install is super sensative.
I reinstalled the Telepathx2 into com2. Trying to load up my Ensoniq AudioPCI drivers, but the instructions say to go to start/run/browse/select Setup.exe. Well, there ain't no Setup.exe there! Any ideas, gurus???
Nevermind, I got the setup from the first floppy.

Try the "find" in windows.Find files or folders named setup.exe.Point the "look in" to the disk.
(nix: I see you found it)
(note: Please keep beer away from computer - we don't want any mishaps.. LOL )

Ok, I've got the NIC, video and sound drivers installed, but it's ungodly slow. Keeps locking up on a straight boot on Windows screen. Also, ports in device mgr has this:
com port
com port(com5)
printer (lpt1)
Telepath (com2)
What's this com5. Where could that have come from? I don't show any splats, but something is wierd.

ok, boot into safe mode and look in device manager.... delete com port (5), com port, any multiple monitors, incorrect modems, etc...

I don't see the NIC, maybe we're back to that.Check device manager and all devices; does any list com5?
Does com5 show on the boot screen with any device listing?
Press pause/break key to stop to read, press any key to continue.

are you doing your looking in bios? should be in safe mode and the device manager... the nic should show up under network adapters... (are you sure you loaded the drivers or did you mean something else when you said "Ok, I've got the NIC, video and sound drivers installed..."?)

Sorry folks...I had to get off the screen for a little while. My eyes were going buggy.
Yes, the NIC shows up in network adapters, and I do have two monitors...for some reason.
I'm using the Linksys Befsr41-4port jobby. It appeared to load in ok...into network adapters.

Hmmm...
Well I forgot where we're at.The 2 monitors thing is probaly what's slowing down the boot process.Windows has to disable one.You could boot and remove both monitors.Or the one that you don't have would be better.
But before that, can you refresh me, can you boot regular mode now?

I've deleted the other monitor, com5 and com. Rebooting now, but it's just chunking along. I'm gonna let it go a bit and see if it comes up...but it's super slow.

Gateway P166-MMX/64mb. Yep, that's the router I've got. Linksys NIC also plugged into the same place the cable NIC was.
What apparently took so long was rebuilding the driver database. It came back with only plug/play monitor (good?)under monitors, but a splat in Com port, put com5 back out, and splat in sound, video with the wave device for modem.
What's funny is I thought everything was accounted for, then I reboot and it finds 2 more unknown devices. God, I hate Win95.
