    Are 3rd party cards good?

I was looking around ebay for a new video card. I was seeing some very good prices but a lot of the cards were 3rd party cards. The brand I saw the most was evil master. Are they any good? What about the brand performance edition?

Is it a good deal to get a third party card when you can get it for $80 and the originail price is $150-$200?

I would tend to stay away from the less mainstream cards. I got an old Powercolor brand vid card and the thing was a pile of garbage... It was incompatible, slow, and had horrible drivers. Unless you have seen one in action I would advise against this pursuit. Besides, there are good deals to be found on cards that are more well known. A form of insurance one might say..

Stay away from the knock-offs if you need reliability and performance. I just went through a mild hell with the Powercolor brand from eBay. Not a great performer for games, but probably OK for general stuff. I wouldn't touch another one, anyway.

Ok thanks. I was going to get a Built by ATI Radeon 7500 but the guy said it didn't have the dual monitor or tv in/out wich all 7500 come with. So I suspected a blackmarket card and didn't buy, even though it was going for only $75.

Yeah, you definitely gotta be careful. I've seen several variations of the same card on some of these sites. Makes it very hard to know without actually seeing what you're going to get. Even then you can't be sure til you got it in your computer.

A great deal isn't always what it seems!

Do your reasearch and you'll be ahead of the game.
