    Abit KR7A and Asus v7700

Anyone know if there is a compatibility issue with these? I'm looking for a new home for my v7700 deluxe. I heard awhile back that Asus video cards are not compatible with Abit motherboards.

I'd check to see if its not a driver/bios issue, but look to see if there are any capacitors or transistors near the AGP slots. Most manufacturers of the video cards put the Foxconn 15-pin connector on the bottom of cards, taking out capacitors on the mainboard.

    Double-check that and see.

Maybe I was the one you heard it from
I had V7700 Deluxe in my Abit KT7A-RAID and it booted right only about 50% of time. I know it's been an issue with another Abit mobos, don't know about KR7A, however.
But I was easily fixing these problems by hitting "Reset" button as soon as I was getting those "no videocard" beeps (1 long, 2 short).

    OK, thanks for the responses.

ND, it is interesting that your problem was intermittent. They're the worst kind since you can never no for sure what is going on or whether you fixed it. Once I had a problem with a VisionTek Gerforce2 in an Iwill kk266. It would need to be reinserted into the slot from time to time, especially after moving the system. I noticed that it made a funny sound whenever I would insert it into the slot. Sounded like maybe the PCB was thicker than normal and was over stressing the slot contacts. It didn't have the problem with other video cards, or else I would think maybe the slot contacts on the mobo were damaged. At least the failure rate was not 50% of the time. That is strange.
