Try plugging the modem into a machine running W2K and see if the driver database for W2K will recognise what type of modem it is.

The pins you connect the jumper to on the hard drive may be dodgy. If it is not the pins it could be the hdd's printed circuit board.

There is software you can get to change DMA inside the o/s.
I cant remember who makes it but I will try to find out. The more people looking the better.

Would recommend keeping the same cluster sizes. I dont think it would stay to stable if you moved data from one partition to the other if the cluster sizes were different.
Have you tried using fdisk...

Usually the screen will go to the windows logo and then back to the previous screen........this is normal.
Also, try hitting ESC at your login screen and see what happens.

Do you have the latest bios on your motherboard??
Maybe you have a dodgy cpu.

Dynamic disks in 2000 are used as a software raid utility. I cant see much point in upgrading your disk as there is only one disk and 2 is what is needed for a raid 1 (mirrored)
