Just intalled A7n8X mobo (deluxe rev.2.00) and 2600+ AMD Athlon XP chip - System settings is reading the chip at 1.14 instead of 2600+ Suggestions?

Thinking about it - it seems to occur after I download a large file, perhaps a hundred meg or over.

Files are from known sources, when trying to open the completed download the whole machine seems...

Will try the ipconfig if it happens again, will get a print out of this thread if anyone else has anything to add.

I've seen this skirted upon in a couple of threads, where a user is browsing the internet one minute, then the next they cant raise anything external.

Scenario:

Browsing the internet late one...

NIC is fine - if your machine has a spare PCI slot you should be sorted.

Router, filter is fine, but Im not up on wire specs - you're probably spot on.

Looks like a cheap and extremely cheerful...

USB will only connect to your computer, and not the router. An ethernet modem will connect to the internet, and the router connects to your machine.

USB modems wont connect to a router - best asking if they supply an ethernet modem alternative.

Im up here in Durham, took us ages to get BBand up here.
