A old PATA, ide, computer. So you can not mount a SSD and use it.

If you secure it to the top of the cage, that should work.

Op says, Is there another way to mount the new HDD in the case without using the "cage" ?

Or even post the model of that computer.

I would recommend about a 240 - 256 GB SSD as it will really speed that thing up.
