Surprised me about that PCI card supporting DX 10.
Getting rid of the old drivers can be a PITA.
Gone that route a few times myself for the same reason.

DX 10 is only supported by PCI-E.
PCI is slower than AGP/PCI-E
I was sure happy when I replaced the PCI card with a AGP X8 card. Big difference when playing videos.

You guessed right, just AGP has been put out to pasture and retired.
PCI-E does have DX-10.

Might want to look into refurbished. What I have bought since 2013. And yes most of the run Linux. Antix and MX are the distros I use. I even put this threead together....
