FYI: Syntax makes low priced (< $50) motherboards. These would be considered "value" parts rather than "quality" components. Still, even a low priced motherboard should do what its designed to do.

Glad you got it fixed, but I wouldn't be satisfied with just getting an add-on network card after the on-board system fails.

Any BIOS beeps when you try to start up?? (sure hope you didn't damage your core when you removed/replaced the HSF)

Make sure the HSF is plugged into the correct fan header & is sending an RPM signal to the MB.

Man, those kind of problems can be frustrating. But - no matter how good the tech is, its hard to troubleshoot a problem that doesn't show up when he/she is working on it. Still, the shop owner...
