If you multi-task a lot you definitely want either 2000 or XP. I can't tell you which one is better b/c I haven't used XP very much.

Rob, yes I do have an Nvidia video card but, I use analog audio for CD playback. In windows 2000 there were some CD playback problems when the "Apply Reverb/QMSS/QXpander to External Input Source"...

There's really only one way to TOTALLY remove a SB Live! from your system... 1)pull card 2)format HD 3) reinstall windows.
Just uninstalling the software and the drivers does not remove all...

crazyray, the ViaHardware forums are where I went for advice on solving the problem. :)
The SB Live! crackling problem is very common on boards with a Via chipset and even some Intel boards...
