Hi you guys, just wondering, is there any AGP-PCI converter? (onboard PCI, I wanna put an AGP card on it)
My friend has an AGP video card, but he didn't know that he only had PCI slots on the motherboard...
Anyway, would somebody be so kind and answer this question for me.
Thanks in advance.
No there's no way to convert AGP to PCI.
The two are electrically and physically incompatible. Your standard PCI slot works at 33MHz with a 32bit path on a shared bus architecture. So all your PCI slots share 133megabytes/second of bandwidth. Think of it as a road with a bus on it -- the bus has 133 seats and all the devices are bus stops. So there's a limit to how much of that bandwidth the video card can use.
AGP is Accelerated Graphics Port--it connects directly to the Northbridge and hence to the CPU and Main Memory without going through a bus. AGP 4X, the current standard is a quad-pumped 66MHz 32bit path with over a gigabyte per second of bandwidth.

Does anybody have a RADEON 8500 OEM card???? If so, please post your score, 'cuz I wanna do a comparison between the OEMs and RETAILs
btw, can you overclock a RADEON? Therefore, bringing an OEM card back up to RETAIL level.

Why didn't you run the FULL test? you wouldn't be hacking MadOnions server or software would you?
 :D
I got 4869 on my first tried today. How does this look? I'm running on MSI GeForce3 Ti200 at 240/460.
AthlonXP 1600(1.4ghz) @ 1900(1.6ghz)
256mb DDR SDRAM
MSI K7T266 Pro2
Radeon VE 32mb DDR
A whopping 2189 on default 3dmark2001!
Using the online compare, I rank in 7th place for AthlonXP's and Radeon VE's. When I change the comparing card to Radeon 8500 or Geforce3's, scores of over 10 000 are listed.
The Radeon VE sucks ***, big time. It's hard to believe that my new super fast AthlonXP scores close to my Duron 750 @ 800, which could get about ~1700.

TWO reasons 1. I will do soon but on my way up to gettting a good mark you do benchmark after bencmark and the four games take nearly 6 mins to complete so thats why then you find the max before it locks up and do it again to be sure and it gives a good score so u post it.
2.Temp.When i got that score it was about 5c outside so with the win open it was 17c inside the room ive got my pc in,since then it hasnt been cold enough for me to get my room temp down, its frustrating i live in the South of England and for the time of year its so mild outside.so soon.if it gets to about Oc ill get even better scores,

I live in the south east and I only believe FULL scores because , if a card locks up before the full test has run then it's been O\C'ed too far, That is the nature of the test. if 17oC is too hot for your card then, how do ppl in hotter parts of the world compete with those in Greenland etc. your reply has only served to arouse suspisions further, I still smell a rat.

I never had any nvida boards.Only played with 3dfx 1,2,sli,3,5.The only reason i got a gainwards ti 200 was do to no support for 3dfx. I only ran 3dmark2001 2x. first out box 2311 oc 240 550 =7900. next day put 2280 drivers+120side fan and maxed gpu to 252 572mem. only ran 3dmark 3 times before crashing xpp do to corrupt sys files.all 3 runs were over 8422 to 8499. Since that i went back to win98. I wasted to much time setting most services to man. or off in xpp. I now get over 12000 3dmark2000 and few games use dx8.

Who needs DDR RAM ;)
OK Hammy1, :) that's some FSB, you the man.
meanalf:
I need DDR RAM.
Of course that's because I ended up with a new motherboard and CPU and if I wanted to take advantage of them I had to get the RAM that fit the DIMM slot.
But seriously you still don't "Need" it, it just helps.
