Newest version much quicker but: maybe you understand german: this is from the manual-see above pdf-link:
clonezilla
ist this quite clear?
but there are some ??????
Must tell them to change also this.
in original no german understands repository......and mounting
didnt know imaging a partition is also cloning. thought cloning is real duplicating.
When you clone a drive, you copy everything on it onto another drive, so that the two are effectively identical. Normally, you would clone to an internal drive made external via a SATA/USB adapter or enclosure.
But imaging a drive is more like creating a great big .zip file (without the .zip extension). Image backup software copies everything on the drive into a single, compressed, but still very large file. You would probably save the image onto an external hard drive.

Thats why the definition in german is so misleading. must also criticize this in clonezilla-forum.
as i mentioned above: IN german: before you clone the system you must define where the image is stored.....
and one can define how large its splitted.
incrementel(only data saved which has altered) seems not exist in clonezilla.

orico has a docking-station(around 320 usd) which allows backing up without PC even partitions(if i dont err)
You, I believe, are remembering right. Put the hdd in one slot, the blank hdd in the other slot, and it clone to the second hdd.
NO PC needed.
No, it seem you can NOT split it for dvds.
clonezilla has splitoption, is set as default, had to increase setting to get one file.
this is interesting:

maybe i am confusing with one which can image systempartition without pc. That one was 320 usd. maybe prices dropped tremdously. will check them out.
Been a while since we last looked at them.
Looks like prices have dropped nicely.
Here is their list and lots of them clone now.

one is Ide/Sata the other SATA/SATA.
prices must have dropped tremendously.
one cannot find on ebay. only copies....
the one which i saw years ago for 320 usd could copy partitions without pc.
Well keep reading I guess.
