I have an old HIS HD3870 PCI-Express- Videocard with 6-pole Power-connector.
Since i didnt know i bought a new 500w-PSU without this cable.
The adapter i have got has two molex psu-inputs. The one with only one option was not available
3-pole and 2-pole female
First i thought its Female/male, male to be used as a dual-power-source.
Why is this? Which one to use? Thanks
PCIE: 6 pole/ card has 6 poles only
Molex 1: pin1 yello, pin2 black, pin3 black , the same as PSU-molex
Molex 2: pin 1 2x yellow, pin2 black

Yes but PCIe has only 6 poles. could not use this one.
6 pole is matching the card.
PSU male molex exactly matches the 3-pole-molex female.
What is the second female molex version-2poles- for?
Got to watch it some are for the extra power the cpu needs. But again some video cards needed 2 of those 6 connector plugs. 70 watts per connector and when those video cards were requiring over 210 watts they went to the 8 connector configuration.

You definitely need the proper power supply. See if you can return that one for one that has correct PCI video connectors. That is a dedicated circuit and the video card right now is not getting enough power to even start up.
At startup i can see an image but the lines are corrupt.
Will use the psu for my older pc as backup.
Still with the same psu, none of three used PCIe-cards are working.
Only the one with ps shows a corrupt image.
Must definitively exchange PSU.
2. i have two female molex-connectors on the PCIe-Y-cable. what is the second one for?
I am now using AGP-card.
during the test i have found out:
contacts must be very clean and one must take care in which order psu and screen is on.
Look into the PCI-e slot and see if it might be damaged.
I might take both molex to get enough power.
Yes video card contacts must be clean.
We will test the cards on a seperate pc. I will get new used ones.
2. this universal asrock MB alivedual esata2 has great reviews despite vista-ati and ati-videocard-problems.
3. even the bios-chip is removable. could this eventually help?

If you ever have to remove it for replacement or send it in to have someone reprogram it.Quote:

Used video cards I refuse to buy. Figure they have bben overheated or treated wrong and static has ruined them.
Of course i will get a new videocard but first i want to know where the problem is. We will find out.
Friend told me they were working. But i dont trust him. He even said the one which needed extra power was working. Could this be true?
Will this diagnosis card help me finding the problem?

When the PCIe-videocardss are working on my friends pc wouldnt it be appropriate and open a new thread in Videocard and Monitors-section?
1. I have now brand new PSU with PCI3-power-cable.
None of the three PCIe-videocards are working properly, two show nothing.
Maybe because i am using a CRT-monitor with vga-cable?
Two of three cards have both DVI and VGA-connectors. I tried also with adapter. Nothing helped.

If they work in one computer and do not work in yours, I would say that now you have a bad motherboard in Video PCI-e slot.
I use VGA cables myself. I can not see any differece using DVI or HDMI. So why spend money when I have lots of good VGA cables.
CRT(17 ")-the big old monitors with VGA, they should work with PCIe-cards, right?
Cheap VGA-cables for flat-screens? LCD? Didnt know its working.
Yep, my 16 foot, VGA cable for a 15, 17, 19 inch VGA monitors are working just fine with my $180, 24 inch Samsung LCD.
Had to buy a better VGA cable when I hooked my brothers 50 inch TV to his computer though.
Maybe some PCIe-cardS are working on pc1 but not on PC2, right?
mayby the asrock needs:
Radeon HD ab 3000er Serie
Geforce ab 7900er/8800er Serie.
PCI-E 1 will work at that rate in any above it.
A x1 will work in a x16 but not the reverse.
