Help with Netgear powerline wireless options.
Hi Everyone.
I am chasing some advise as to what i can plug into my Netgear power line adapter to throw out a good wireless access point.
My basic set up is as below.
Modem/router -------Power line adapter down stairs ------------Power line adapter up stairs--------Laptop.
This set up works well as it is all connected via network cable and i get around 21mb down stairs and 19mb upstairs.
I take the cable out of my laptop upstairs and plug it into a 300mbps generic wireless access point i got off ebay in the link below . I connect to it via wireless and the signal drops to 3MB which is strange considering it is in the same room as me.

Has anybody set up a system similar to this before and have any options for me? Is it my generic access point up to scratch?
Netgear support have been absolutely useless and were asking for my receipt of purchase of the power line adapters before they would help me buy more of their products....
I have found the XAVN2001 made by Netgear that appears to connect to the power line adapters and throws out a wireless signal. My only problem is that they appear to be 200mbps where my power line adapters are 500mbps. Would i notice a speed drop?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Evan.
