Morpheus Disconnecting my DSL

After a long time of trying to figure out why my DSL would constantly disconnect, I found out that it was Morpheus (aka Kazaa) (a P2P file sharing program) that was causing it to do that. Let me explain...

Whenever I'm running Morpheus, my DSL will constantly disconnect when it "feels" like it. Sometimes it'll stay connected for a few hours before it disconnects. Sometimes, it'll be a few minutes. It won't reconnect again until I restart my computer.

Whenever i'm not running Morpheus, it won't disconnect. But when i open Morpheus, it starts the disconnecting stuff after a while. Before I upgraded to WindowsXP, it wouldn't do this (when I used to use Win98).

does anyone know what the problem is?

(By tha way, is there a way I can connect to the musiccity network without using Morpheus (or Kazaa), such as FileNavigator. If so, then what is the server's address for musiccity?)

Thanks.

A few things, JScott.

First, welcome to Sysopt.com
Second, the post you resurrected was from January 2002, almost 4 years old.

I definately admire you actualy using the search functionality...I don't think you need to resurrect that old of a thread, though.

Third,
Due to the common illegal nature of P2P programs, and Sysopt.com's strict rules against piracy and illegal downloading, I don't think you're going to get much help here....

Wooo buddy, you can't label all P2P users as criminals. P2P was a legitimate way of transfering / shareing files before 'pirates' infected it with tons of pirated software. What he chooses to download through his P2P client is his own business.

As far as i know running a P2P protocol isn't illegal.... yet...

have a beer.

I don't think he was calling you a criminal, he was just saying that discussing kazaaa, etc is pretty much taboo around here...

All? No. 95% of them, Yes. You would have to be either ignorant or misinformed if you thought otherwise.

Cocaine and other forms of "caine" were originally invented for strict medicinal use (Novacaine, etc.)...

That's like saying "Yeah...my dentist let me snort a line before my root canal...and it was legal"...yea right.

Since I would have a good argument that a lot of the users of P2P users are kids, and kids don't know any better, and EVERY P2P program by default lets YOUR PC share copyrighted files, yes...that would make them criminal. I don't care if they don't know, were misinformed...or flat out were mislead, it's illegal.

Just so you are 100% clear... I'm not saying 100% of P2P is illegal or criminal. But you'd have to be a blind fool to think that any less than 95% isn't criminal...knowing or not.

For the record...I could care less what he downloads, or anyone else. But, the site UAP is the UAP....that's all...

The most significant item is resurrecting this old dinosaur...let it die, again...
