Anybody know what this file is kak.hta?

This file showed up on my sisters Dell computer sunday night,"kak.hta" and ever since then, it is trying to load at boot and wants to connect to the internet.
It also produces an error box that says "Driver memory error" on start up.
She also said that she didn't install no programs and also called Dell about it, they had know idea what it was.
Any of you guys know?

Thats what I thought.
I asked her if she checked her computer with her anti-virus program and she said she did, but it did not detect the worm. She uses McAfee Anti-Virus.
I'm beginning to wonder if McAfee is any good?
Any recommendations for a good anti-virus scanner?

I just last week removed the Happy99.exe virus off a system. The owners were incredulous that a virus had gotten on their system, after all, they HAD virus software!
They sure did, the original version that came on the Win95 Plus disk. Never updated!
The point: Virus protection is only as good as YOU make it!

Yes I agree Twobit,
I asked her if she updated the scanner and she said it was updated last month. So I'm not sure how a worm detected on Dec. 27th 1999 got by undetected by her scanner.
I update my scanner, or at least check for an update 2 times a week.

I agree with Twobit.
Personally I like Norton's, but thats just me. I do make a point to check for updates quite often for the AV and the Windows update site.
Sorry about your sisters problem, but it dosent look to serious, somebody here should be able to help you. I'm not very good in the registry, so I don't want to give you bad advice. Good Luck, and you may want to tell her not to E-Mail any of her friends until it can be taken care of.

IMHO Mcafee is a total piece of junk. I have seen several viruses get by it time and time again. (with recent definition updates). Since I switched our department over to Norton we haven't had a problem.

I did a little test with mcaffe,antivirultoolkit pro and nortons.....I DLed a bunch of viri and trojns just before a reformat..........
antivirultoolkit pro detected almost all of them as soon as they wer unzippid.....where norton and mcaffe did not detect hardly any of them......even when scanned directly....
Also norton and mcaffe are disgusting bloatware......
antivirultoolkit pro is only about 3-4 megs with the full updates..........it is the nicest virul scanner I have ever seen...BTW most hackers use it.
