Lightbulb Need Help setting up new A7V/Duron!

I just got my Asus A7V and Duron 700, my first question is, can I pull out my old motherboard and CPu and replace with the new one without reloading Windows Millenium?
Also, my Duron 700 has the L1 bridges cut, is all I have to do to overclock it is reconnect all of the L1 bridges with a pencil to get it to overclock with this motherboard? My A7V has all of the dip switches too, rev. 1.02.
Thanks

Before you swap the old mobo/cpu with the new one go the the system hardware listing in control panel and remove everything related to the old hardware. Shut down, replace the mobo/cpu and start again. It will start picking up your new hardware. This may or may not work! Most probably you'll have all kinds of problem and you'll be forced to clean install after a while but it's worth the try.
As for your Duron, make sure that you only connect the oposite points and that each bridge is clear from the others:

This is what you will try to achieve. It's dead easy, use a pencil to do it. Then you get yourself a good HS/Fan and some heat compound and take the voltage up and clock to 1G easy. Make sure you got the cooling before your clock it though. Good luck.

Thumbs up

Yep this man is totally right. I have my Duron 650 at 950mhz. I have a Global Win FOP32-1. I'm waiting for my Artic Silver paste to take it to the 1ghz mark. Good luck.

Oh yeah! And I unlocked it with a sharp pencil.

make sure you copy all the cab files off your Windows CD to your hard drive befor you swap it out to the new system becouse when you start up that new board and it starts finding new stuff your gona need them and your not going to have a cd-rom till it reloads the drivers and reboots.

Thanks for the help guys. I had to reinstall Windows, no biggie anyways. I am now up and running @ 850Mhz CPU temp is around 48-50C, with a cheapo heatsink/fan.
Does anyone know if it's better to overclock and then load windows, as when I first loaded windows then overclocked, i got errors, and had to reinstall again?

I loaded up my OS first then overclocked and it's working flawlessly with no errors.
