Philips Acoustic Edge sound card problem in Win2K

I am currently using a Philips Acustic Edge 5.1 sound card. My system is dual booted with Windows Me and 2000; in Me, the card works great with no problems at all. However, in Windows 2000 all sound has a crackle in the background. I know it's not a problem with my speakers, because they work great in WinMe, and it's also obviously not a problem with the sound card itself for the same reason.

This problem occurs with the drivers provided on the original driver CD and also with the lastest drivers from Philips' site. I even tried all 4 hardware acceleration settings (from full to none, and everything inbetween) and these did not help. Also, volume has no affect on the interference either.

If anybody has any ideas for me to try, please post them. Thanks a lot in advance!

Ok, I have realized now that the latest drivers HAVE fixd my old problem. Yes, I said OLD problem because the latest drivers have added a new one! With these latest drivers, Windows 2000 randomly crashes while playing garbled sound through my speakers. It has frozen even when no sound is being played. Once, it even froze up while Win2k was running scandisk during startup! That's right; the system was not even into Win2k fully yet and it had this problem! Any suggestions?!!!
