Worth waiting on Wolfdale and Yorkfield

Is it worth the wait on Intel's up coming Wolfdale and Yorkfield processors? Along with a few other code names that been floating around since 06.
Or go with QX6850?

I really hate the question of, "Should I spend the money for the best now or wait another year and see what is out?"

What is important for me is #1 Gaming then #2 Research capabilities without spending $20k-$50k. So is it worth waiting for 13% increase in performance if that?
