The Long Claws Of The Law

There have been some fishy goings-on at Hartlepool quay following the theft of 120 lobsters. The crime wave is being investigated by the aptly named local bobby called PC Whiting.

Cleveland Police said they are thought to be worth more than £1,000 and are urging anyone who is offered cheap seafood to contact investigating officer Dean Whiting.

A force spokesman said: "Police are investigating a fishy theft of 120 lobsters from Hartlepool fish quay and anyone who has any information should contact PC Dean Whiting.

"We are sure he will trawl through the evidence and net the thieves responsible.

"I'm sure the officer will be on the end of some fishy puns but it could have been worse.

"In the nearby Stockton area we have an officer called PC Fish, so it's probably just as well they weren't stolen from there."
