Classmates.com Good Or Bad ??

Hello. I often wondered if this was the scam of the century. I've always wanted to join to write people I knew and say hello, But after searching complaints on classmates backed off. The money wouldn't be that big of a problem, But being recharged when I didn't want to would upset me. And I was concerned about the others even receiving my emails.

Well Yesterday I did it. After a few weeks of investigating the problems everyone else was having I tried it for myself. this is what I have found out so far.

When signing up I used my paypal debit/credit card and left only the $15 in it to pay for the 3 months. That account is for my ebay selling and buying. It asked for the info and had the continue button on the bottom. after I het it I received another screen. big ad asking about a free trial. just scroll to the bottom and hit the No Thanks button. it then goes to another big ad. same thing scroll down to the bottom and click on the No Thanks Button again. !! Your In !!. Now for me, these ad's don't matter because I have used all the money in the account I paid for this with. So if I did click yes they wouldn't be able to start taking the $6 or $7 a month out for them. also you can pay by money order. I wouldn't suggest useing a standard credit card though. even the check card from my credit union i wouldn't use because depending on where i shop some ask for my pin number, where others didn't and they all received there money. so that pin to protect me isn't doing it's job. onward-->

The Test... My wife and I had graduated the same year, and at the same school. I had put both of our profiles on classmates. So my first test was to write her. You don't get her email from them. they have a section for you to email them from. This can be seen by anybody. just click on send email and it will let you do everything I do except when you send it. Then if your not a gold member it'll try and get you to sign up. I had done this about 15 times. after a few hours she had received an email saying I had sent her an email, and that she can view it at classmates. I went into classmates and lord and behold there it was complete with my home email on it. It worked... So I wrote back not using the home email but just used the reply button, and again I received an email from classmates saying i had received it.

The problems are if the people your writing didn't keep there emails updated. or changed ISP. if there info is wrong you won't hear from them. Also I feel the email, though it has my name. If they don't remember me, it would be very easy to think it's just another ad from classmates and delete it. so how you do the subject box can make a world of different's.

one for the guys. if you think your going to write all those hot chicks from school. Be warned I already knew some of them. They work for Goodyear in the form of a blimp..... So people change, I have met a very close friend that had wrote back and we are to meet after 25 years to talk. Feels so strange. I almost feel like I'm breaking a law just because I remembering these people. Stalking maybe.

Well I just wanted to put in my 2 cents is works. But it only works if there info is right and they want to be found. later CNN7

The ppl from highschool that I'd want to talk with I already have made contact with, just using normal search engine stuff. Some of them took a bit of tracking down though.
A lot of the rest would now be married with lots of little snot nosed kids, I wouldn't want to even go near them!

Well I had to give it a try and my report is half done. As a male writing to most all the people guys and gals. Some i knew some I didn't. Out of about 30 letters sent only 2 replied. and of them only one added me to his mailing list so now I receice all those wonderful jokes in my email. The other a female I knew as a friend many years ago wrote me back onec. explained how happy she was to hear from me, then gave a me bad email address. and I wrote one last time but heard nothing. Classmates dose tell you when your letter has been read. I'm thinking if my wife wrote to the same people she would get a much larger response. But I'd have to say unless you want to be heart broken. I wouldn't suggest doing it. I asked for photos. but received none. I guess they don't like me or the way they look. Which they go out about every day in public so what would a photo matter. then can dress it up to make them look better. Not like I'm asking for a date or marrage???? Just a simple hello how are you. So for those who read this. Yes it really dose work. You can contact others. And give them your email to write you back. dosen't mean they will. I guess the thought that I was close to some of these and they never even took the time to write back. WHOW!! that is sad. and they won't look like the photo in the year book either. or not the ones I was writing to. that was 25 years ago. Good Luck. Joe signing off

Classmates.com BAD

I signed up for a free trial for 7 days. It was my understanding that before they charged the credit card for $39 (gold account) that I'd be contacted and at that time say yes or no. Apparently, I didn't read the fine print. I was supposed to contact them within the 7 days or else they activate the account. I tried to cancel and you can't based on the terms and conditions. SAVE YOURSELF THE $39 it's not worth it - they basically rely on the fact that you dont read the fine print to join classmates.com

They supposed "free trail" didn't give you any more information to the site anyway. In my opinion it's a total SCAM!

Well. I did join after thinking about it real hard. and it dose work. I was able to write anyone on there site. I found an old friend from high school. we use to be super close. he sends me jokes now. I wrote to a bunch of girls I use to know or date. I have one writing me off and on now. again jokes. I think I scared the others away. LOL

But what I did is write them. it gose to there classmates email thing not there email. Then classmates dose send them an email telling them you wrote. I know this because I tested it on my wifes account. I put my email in the letter and it wasn't changed.

the down side, and what I started feeling. why am I trying to write these people from 25 years ago. though most knew me and we talk a little. some wrote once. others still write. so yes it works. But are the people you looking for on there is there info up to date. if not well yes your wasting your money. I did it for 1 month, it was like $15 and you have to go in and stop the auto pay or it will keep renewing. I did it right away and had no trouble.

I've gotten in touch with most of my former class mates and even teachers through myspace, believe it or not.

I can't think of one person from my whole school, who I am interested in finding out what they've been up to.
