USB Flash drives question?

Hi All

I recall reading a few months ago about a USB drive that had preinstalled an email client that would effectively mean you could use any PC in (e.g. Internet Cafe) to get your email without compromising security.

My understanding was that all the email transactions were done within the client on the USB drive bypassing the MS or other such clients on the PC.

I can not recall the make or model and a Google search only throws up the V-Tec model using something called V-Mail. Its description does not seem close enough to the other product - whatever it was/is?

Any ideas?

TIA

you have most thing completely mixed up here.

if you want stuff to get stored in your USB drive, there are serveral ways

but if you want Email to do so, then you need to configure the email software for that.

now as far as i know in most internet cafe you only use WebMail like Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, and such

those have no option for you to store to USB, unless you want to Export to Text

Hi Allgamer

Here is the link to the V-Tec model
http://www.vtec.co.uk/product/96_635.asp

If you read part of the spec it refers to their V-Mail software

"V-MAIL is a unique remote emailing facility that allows users to send and receive emails from any PC or workstation world wide. Utilising your personal email setting V-Mail transmits and downloads mail securely, all emails are stored on the V-Drive so no data is compromised by being left behind on the systems you use to access your account."

And as I said I definitely read about another such USB drive & if only I could remember where?

so you will 99% of the time will NOT be able to use it on properly secured Internet cafes

You're wrong. There are plenty of flash drive manufacturers that make these kinds of secure drives now, not just this company. The programs are stored on the drive and are not installed onto the host machine...if they did that...what would be the point.
