COUPLE'S CLEAN GETAWAY

Stealing toiletries from hotels is one thing - but a British couple have taken pilfering to new heights.

The pair liked their shower at the Globe Hotel in Topsham so much they took it home with them.

The unusual theft came after the pair - a man in his 50s and a woman in her 20s - spent the night in a four-poster bed room at the hotel near Exeter.

After they checked out of the room, staff found the entire shower unit had been taken from the en-suite bathroom.

Hotel owner Liz Hodges said the couple - whose identity is unknown - had left her with a bill of around £300.

"I have never experienced anything on this scale before," she said. "I just cannot believe someone would do this."

She explained the couple - who paid their bill in cash - had turned off the water supply before disconnecting the shower.

Devon and Cornwall Police Sergeant Alan Mobbs said the theft was unusual, "particularly when you consider the efforts needed to physically take a shower from the wall".

I've read about people stealing beds and TVs from hotel rooms, but this has got to take the cake!
They probably took that too.

Years ago in LA some clever plumber was found with 400 Sloan flush valves stolen from gas stations throughout the country. He was fencing them through a salvage company in Sacramento. It was later determined that he had already sold several thousand to other salvage companies!
