The Incredible Dead Bios !!!

Hi, People.

I'm Adrian. I write from Jujuy, a very small town in Argentina.
I know I'm bugging you all, but my bios just died.
The data I have is this one:

American megatrend
Ami Bios'96 6/30/1997S

at the bottom of the screen:
51-0620-001437-00111111-071595-I430TX-001_10_TX-H

The I.D. of the motherboard I found, is that it's a: PcChips 550
I have a very restricted access to internet with this computer.
I need to download the bios to try too boot my dear, dead pc, and I get Bioses of all kind, but not the one I need !!!
Me and my wife 've just started a carreer in Education in a "Virtual Campus" in an Argentinian University in the web a week ago, and now we just can't go ahead !
What do We do ?! Thank you all.

The only site I've found for you for a Bios update is a German site:
bns-computer.de/Support/mb_550.htm

ogannon. Interesting name. What does it mean?

Susan. I had a difficult time locating the M550 bios. Man, that PcChips site -no thanks!

Adrian. If you haven't already, try replacing the battery first. Go here for the Bios if needed: http://www.pcchips.com/m550bios.html

Susan. I was slow but..

inhaling to puff out his chest he arched his spine back. Swaying side to side as if rocking in the breeze, he boasted, " I one-upped ya."

Additional information at: http://www.pcchips.com/m550.html

The Incredable Dead Bios ! This topic fits a lot of threads lately. Where is all this bios work appearing from? I thought I was the only one doing a bad flash with his clothes on!!!

You want to down load the new Bios (the .bin) file and the amiflash utility. From their web site.

Create a bootable diskette (format A: /s) and copy the .bin and the expanded flash utility to it.

Reboot the system with the diskette and type in the full name of the .bin file.

Let the program run.

After it is finished, turn the system off and reset the Bios.

Reboot and adjust the settings in the Bios to match your system.

BEFORE you do this, please check and see if it isn't the motherboard battery that is causing your problems. Replacing it then resetting the Bios may be all that's needed. Or you may only need to reset the Bios with a jumper on the motherboard (usually marked CMOS RESET) OR reset it by removing the battery and leaving it off for several minutes. After the Bios it reset, go into the Bios check the settings.

OGANNON

DEAR Bleeding Edge:

We (a friend and me) did ev'rything you said.
This guy had made this thing before, and tried everything.
The problem is : The PC goes : beep - beep -
beep ( the same way a phone does) when you insert the disk, it goes: beep beep, beep beep, beep beep, etc. Meaning it TRIES to read something. But nothing else happens.
If something illuminates your golden mind,
just write me. The gods bless your soul
ogannon.

The start up screen doesn't show the new bios date?

On some motherboards, you may need to move the Cmos jumper to the recovery position when flashing the Bios. After flashing is complete, move the jumper back.

Are you saying the system isn't booting from the floppy disk? Did the flash program start?
