Some help here on p3's. oh yea MUAHAHAHA for all those who have doubted me

yes. i have finally o/ced my "The Dell OEM board will NOT let you overclock. Period!" board. - Sterling_Aug

wow hard to locate the crystal and PLL...whew! pissed me off when it was right next to the proc. arg.
anyway, i got cpucool for in windows o/cin, cuz dell is evil like that
i got cpuz runnin by it to compare. currently, its a p3 700 coppermine on SE440BX-3 goin steady at 721mhz. i know its not much, but remember, its A DELL FROM 1998(i think) it was like top of the line at the time. lol i hate tech...aaaaaaaaharrrakfhsdkfhsa.

anyway, im quite confused by all this hibby jibby talk in CPUcool about tray freq. 1-4 and multiplier setting that i cant change...perhaps thats the part of the "cannot o/c by dell" deal.

ok, so i cant change the multiplier. that means that i'm screwed out of some variable outcomes right? since you can mx'n match the fsb and mult. change. am i wrong there?

(Id like to look at the people who have done this, but there seem to be only one person with a SE440BX-3 in the OC forum.)

ok, it freezes when i go Fsb133 and PCI 44. why? i thought P3s above 600 ran at 133MHZ...am i wrong there?
can someone tell me what the trays do? gracias.

Coppermines came in both. E was the 100fsb EB was the 133fsb. E was better oclocker as you had more fsb to work with. No intel today or then will allow multi changes-just how it is.

"ok, it freezes when i go Fsb133 and PCI 44. why?"

Cause 40mhz is top of pci spec. After that your hdd is dead in water. I.E. hangs other devices like video and sound etc is also being oclocked. Your mobo is a 100fsb only type. Meaning it only supports 1/3 divider. Thats 100/3 =33mhz pci bus. For pci to be in spec (and agp too) you need a 1/4 divider which it seems you dont have. That equals the 133fsb support.
