AMD Athlon 2600/333fsb owners read

All of you AMD fans may want to read this if you purchased an XP2600 with 333Mhz FSB. AMD goofed up! (Imagine that

please don't take offense, I'm just kidding)

What the hell are you talking about? I just bought an AMD XP2600 with 333FSB...how did they screw up now? Everything seems to be running great on my comp!

The article didn't say EVERY processor was wrong. I just posted the article for information, AMD sent out 2600/266's in 2600/333 boxes. Thought people that may have purchased one may want to read the article to see if they may have gotten a wrong one. For some newer people it's plug and play and they may not have noticed that the FSB was only running at 266.

The article... if you bothered to read it... said less than 500 of the 266fsb cpus which got put into the wrong (333fsb) packaging, actually made it out the doors of AMD.

The way Tor worded his post... I think he may have a successful career in sensational journalism ahead of him

Yeah sorry about that. Made a judgement on your post before I had really read the article. I just purchased an XP2600 and didn't want to hear anything bad about it. I'm glad you found that so that other people know about it and I'll have to be more careful about posts in the future. Thanks.

I read about this on HardOCP.

AMD made a mistake and slightly under 500 CPU's got out the door. They said when in doubt the markings on the processor supersede those on the packaging, and that people should return the processors to the point of sale for a replacement.

The article I read went on to commend AMD for coming clean very quickly and taking immediate steps to remedy the situation.

No one's perfect, so the measure of a company is how they fix their problems.

Sorry, I'm an electronics technician, not a writer. Writing was never a strong point which is why I went into electronics.
