Overclocking a Thoroughbred 1700

I overclocked my AMD XP Trbred 1700 to XP 2000 .It runs rock solid and is maintaining 100 degrees F and won't go over. Is this a very good jump.?Going from a 1.47 to a 1.67? I know this chip can handle more but the Bios will only let me do 12.5 multiplier's.. The other options are the CPU core voltage and memory voltages.. I have never messed with these before, any settings that I should try to get it above the 2000+ mark?

JIUCB and JIUGB steppings often go up to 2.1GHz (that's 2700+ PR for you). With 1.85v VCore only.
JIUHB steppings were reported to go up to 2.3GHz with same 1.85v VCore.
Be careful, but you can pump VCore up to ~2.0v.
Try running that processor at 166MHz FSB while finding the best possible multiplier.
And be sure to use good PC2700 memory.

So im pretty much going to have to get 333 DDR here soon to overclock anymore? or 2700 at least?

, jk. He only has 256 mb of PC2100, so it wouldn't be a HUGE loss if he shelved that stuff and bought some PC2700, because he ain't gonna get very far with that PC2100. You could try increasing the Vmem (of the PC2100) to max 2.7v, but if is generic then that would be pushing it. The Vcore could go to +0.10v, or even higher if you have excellent cooling. But personally, I think yo got a very good OC already, without increasing the voltage, which is something that should be handled with caution. Your Hercules can also be oc'ed.

Ya I had the other thread about MOA. You think it is caused by not having PC2700? I have played MOA before with a XP 1600 and diffrent mobo and pc133 ram and it played great...

BTW Ram is Kingston so it should be able to take more than Generic

Lemme know which way you go, just DON"T TOAST THE RAM PLEASE! Haha.

Many PC2100 DIMMs can do PC2700 at 2.8v. 2.8v is not that high of a vdimm, and won't really cause major heat problems. That kingston module can make it to 333MHz, provided you set the CL to 2.5 and set DCLK0 and 1 to 1ns, which I'm pretty sure your board does automatically.

Most pc2100 dims will do pc2700 at a lot less than 2.8V

Mine do pc2700 CL2 @2.8V

Again, like I said, MOST can do it at 2.8v. Maybe not CL2, but 2.8v. And then you have to factor in the 8-quad-word burst length, which gives a good real-world boost yet makes certain DIMMs twitchy.
