I need a replacement AGP card please.

I have a older PC that I don't want to dismantle and throw away. It works real well and I like how it looks. I have a BFG Geforce 8400 GT AGP card in it. It has been slowing down abit and showing its age for a MMO I play. Is there any AGP gamer video cards made any longer? I play City of Heroes/Villains and sometimes world of Warcraft. My budget is up to $75.00. Thank you much in advance.

You'd have better luck looking at ATI AGP cards, since they have newer models. What are your system specs? Most AGP systems would bottleneck high end ATI AGP cards.

my systems specs are Athlon 3500+ CPU, 2 gigs DDR1, 200 gig HD, 400Watt PSU. Which ATI card would be suitable for my systems specs in your opinion?

newegg has 3650s for under $75. that would be way more than enough for your 3500.

Whatever you do, don't go for newer ATI AGP cards. Trust me, I made the same mistake on my system. They use non-standard ATI chipsets that normal Catalyst drivers don't work with. AMD makes (untested & unsupported) AGP hotfix drivers for 2xxx/3xxx AGP cards but they're very buggy and often cause my graphics card to crash...and sometimes the whole system. You can use ATI Omega Drivers, but they're sluggish (based on older versions of drivers), and have graphical issues of their own from various modifications implemented in them. Some people get games to work well on them, but it's been very hit and miss in my experience.

To be honest, you wouldn't see much of an improvement on an upgrade, anyway. For games the card _does_ work with properly my 2600 pushes high framerates, but AGP (like Midknyte said) puts a damper on the gains. Plus the same cards for newer hardware are cheaper as they adhere to PCI-e, the current standard.

While I can't confirm this, I also heard that 3650's don't perform that well on systems running single core cpu's, so that would be something to consider as well.

Unfortunately it's slim pickings in the AGP scene.

The CPU is definitely the bottleneck to the higher cards. Even a 7600GT, 7800GS, or x1950 would probably be plenty. The problem is finding the cards.

I ended up buying a Nvidia card.

I bought a 7300GT Nividia AGP 512 DDR2 card. I am so happy with it. My old gaming machine has new life now Gaming is as it should be now. The downside to this is that I replaced a 6400GT. I paid about 5 years ago $450.00 for that card. Thankfully this card only cost me $60.00 I'm styling now......thank you for your tips folks.

Thanks for the update!

That price drop is a bummer at times.
