SysOpt.com Forum FAQ - Introduction/Registration

Welcome to the SysOpt.com Forums

The forums have become a very important part of the SysOpt.com site. SysOpt.com strives to bring its members the best atmosphere for discussions. Based on the Ultimate Bulletin Board software, the different groups can easily be navigated. The staff members of SysOpt.com hope that all members and visitors will have a very positive forum experience.

What is an Internet Forum?

Forums provide members with a place to discuss current events, trade information, and provide support. Forums can be related to a diverse number of topics. The SysOpt.com forums are related to computers and associated technologies. A wide variety of forums, or discussion topics/categories, grouped by topics, exist in the SysOpt.com Message Board.

Who Uses the Forums?

The members of the SysOpt.com Message Board can be anyone. Most have professions that directly relate to Information Technology, but this is not a set rule. The forums also include students, doctors, lawyers, salespeople, and a myriad of other occupations. SysOpt.com now includes thousands of members, with the enrollment growing daily. Surely with such a large member base, anyone could easily find another individual with whom to converse and exchange ideas.

Can Nonmembers Use the Forums?

Currently, only registered members can post topics to the forums. However, as a non-member, a person is always invited to read any post. Even just by browsing, one can be easily impressed with the amount of knowledge present in the forums. Hopefully by reading several posts, one will want to become a part of the SysOpt.com Message Board so they can fully interact with the other members.

How Does One Register?

Registration is a simple and free process. First, simply click on the Register button at the top right-hand corner of any forum page. Next, a forum Policy Agreement (Rules, Policies, and Disclaimers) will be displayed. The Agreement provides the simple rules and policies of the SysOpt.com forums. By agreeing to adhere to rules and regulations on this page, a new member agrees to use the forums within our company's guidelines and policies. Next, the registering member will be presented with a page requiring him/her to enter their personal information. The member must enter a valid e-mail address, as this will be later used in the registration process. After filing in the blank boxes, just click on the register button. The software will then create new account, and send a password to the above specified e-mail account. A member can easily change his/her password by using the Profile option.

A Note About Passwords

UBB will permit just about any combination of letter and numbers for a password. If the default password is not desired, then take care in choosing a new one. Avoid using words found in an English dictionary as the entire password (without also adding other letters or numbers), as this level of security could be easily compromised. Remember that this is a public forum, so anyone could attempt to gain access to your account.

And don't forget that the password is case sensitive: for example, mYdOG23 is not the same password as mydog23.

Before Posting

Even though a member might have previous forum experience, please take the time to finish reading this FAQ. Every board's rules will differ slightly. All members should familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations, so future avoidable problems will not arise.
