I have 3 pc's networked and am using windows ics with a sattelite internet connection. I was trying to use an online daytrading broker that uses java runtime environment. It works fine on the server machine, but when trying to connect to it using either of the client pc's they shutoff. We emailed the tech support at the brokerage and they said that netgear fa-311 or linksyslnel100tx will not work properly with suns JRE. Wouldn't you know it, we are using two netgear fa311's and a netgear router, so the server machine wich connects directly throught the sattelite using isb works fine. But aside from buying and installing all different network hardware, what can we do. I have been unable to find out anything other than that, tech support for netgear is almost nonexistant, and the sunJRe causes problems when installed on the server machine as it runs another online broker software that uses applets. When running the applets with sun's JRE it maxes out the cpu to the point of near failure.
So basically i cant run the sunJRE on the server since i need it for another application, and I cant run the trading workstation on the client machines due to conflicts with jre and my network. Is there any solution that isnt going to cost me mega$. I m really happy with the way my network is working aside from this and would hate to have to redo all of it.

I have the Netgear 311 but I don't have the problems that you have. Have you tried going through the FAQs on the Netgear site? I had to go through there because of another problem that I'm having with my Netgear card.

Also, you might want to move this thread to Networking because there might be people there that could help you.

If so have you ever had to use the Java runtime environment to connect to a server, I know that Limewire also uses this and we had used this before on all three machines and it worked, but for somereason it doesnt work using jre with this trader workstation.
I also posted this in the network area, thanx for bringing that to my attention.

No, I don't think I tried connecting using a Java runtime environment. I use the card to connect to my college's Internet service. The problem that I'm having with my card is that it is causing my computer to hang or restart when I shutdown. Sorry I couldn't help you anymore with your problem.

This might be a stupid question, but why not just buy two more NICs if the Netgears aren't cutting it? They're hella-cheap these days.

Maybe I'm missing something, though.

Well, some people just try to do everything they can before buying new cards or anything else. Times are tough and people don't have alot of extra money to spend on stuff that they can do without.
