Outlook Express & ZoneAlarm

Why is it that even though I exit Outlook Express, ZoneAlarm indicates that it's still connecting to the Internet? I've set both securities for local and internet to high. Also, I've set access permissions to "?" for both IE & OE. Anyone have the same prob?

Probably just trying to check for mail...do you have check mail settings for a regular interval?....
