I've created a few accounts for my roommates to use. These accounts have restricted user access. I figured out how to lock them out of drives and folders.
What i want to know is, how do lock/remove control panel access.

In order to hide the contents of a folder or drive, i right click on it then -> Sharing -> Security -> Select the user -> Check Deny Full Control. This hides all contents of that folder/drive from the selected user. Is there a way to do this for the control panel folder?

My recollection is that Control Panel is not a folder, but rather a Start Menu construct created from various registry settings, so no way to lock users out. However, users with restricted privileges will not be able to access and use most of the control panel functions.

Actually, try typing control.exe in the run thing... Anyway, try cutting off access to control.exe.

moebius is right, you need to deny permission from that specific folder.

The only thing is, it can only be done in NTFS. You can't set permission in FAT32.

You may be able to use IEAK to do this. Search the MS KB for IEAK and "restrict access". Internet Explorer Administration Kit allows restriction of Regedit, Control Panel, right-clicking and a few other choice items. IEAK is a free download. My biggest worry would be whether the effects are global on the local machine...

Hey...look what Google just served up:
