After browsing the 180 matches to my search I became more confused. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif So I have tryed to enable DMA on my system and boot takes around 10 mins and opening anything takes just as long? And yes I have tryed this at stock FSB speed.

Should I just leave it unchecked?

MY system has 2 Quantom7200rpm UDMA/ATA66 both as masters/52x max Creative CDROM Iomega Zip100 both as slaves.EPOX G2 K6/2+500@567 5.5x/2.1v/103<set by CPUCool @Boot Complete/2x128 PC100 Memory Master

I was wondering for some time and since I was planning on taking most of it apart to clean fan screens is there anything I can do to improve things while I am in there.

I have read post that say I should have both HDD's on the Primary IDE for best performance any truth to this? The other thing that bothers me is during post it does report UDMA66 but Sandra benches them like UDMA33? Anything to maximize performance will help. Thanks Mykex

It seem like you have an overclocked system,
with dma enabled it cause the harddrive to overflow with error instead. so i suggest leaving them off as it only increase performance by 10 percent?! it would work fine if you're using ATA16 but for DMA33/66 etc it is very picky about the PCI bus speed
must be 33.33mhz and not above.

Well if that is the case my Epox can never use DMA? I say this because according to CPUCools readouts my 100FSb setting is really @100.2 and 33.4 ...???? Has anyone else run into this with a board using a winbond W83194R-58 multiplier??
