I recently upgraded from a Tyan s1590s with a k6-2 500mhz cpu to the S2390b and a 1.4gig 266fsb Athalon cpu. Everything seems to work except my Sandisk compact flash reader. It gave no problems on the old board, but if I hook it to the new board, it works until you try to reboot the system. The system locks on drive detection. I have let it sit as long as 5 min., drive lights will go out eventually but go no further. At this point, ctrl+alt+del will not work. Full power off or reset button only method that seemed to work. If, at this point , I unplug the Sandisk unit insted of turning off the power, the computer will finish booting as if it had never stopped. Any ideas??

Was your power supply upgraded to Athlon standards? Since the PC will not start with a USB device plugged in, a BIOS update is in order too.
I'll be honest with you...I see this alot with the Sandisk and other readers. I have yet to see a simple fix.

Power supply meets athalon standards. I forgot to say that I have three other usb devices attached as well. Through trial and error, I found the Sandisk reader to be the only thing causing the problem.
I guess it may be a good thing it is usb...at least I can use it when I want and then unplug it.
Thanks.
