just replaced arm from an old miniscribe 7080AT to the WD 24300. "MIG", (metal-in-gap)
head worked perfectly. Had to place it under an aquarium with my Zippo. Soon as the flame went out, pulled the thread, and the top of the case sealed shut...Imagine That! perfect!
Couldn't have accomplished such a feat without the expert advice of the resident gurus that stake their lives on shedding light on the neophytes. Only drawback is that
I didnt get the capacity I expected......

Excellent! I smoked a part on the controller board of an old 1gig. A friend said it was an inductor and pulled one off a scrap board that was lying around. Worked! I was able to salvage the data and then RMA the drive ~ still in warranty. Got a 2gig back! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
