Well, here's where you'll find voltage-settings: http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon/techdocs/pdf/22651.pdf (just look under the 'Contents' page and select "Voltage Identification (VID) Settings" on page 3.)
And here is where you'll find all sorts of info like this: http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon/techdocs/
I hope these help you out!

WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got the Case and Its Looks Pretty cool (black!) And Can I get into the BIOS without the CPU? or get any video output? The reason is I wannna see if the Mobo works and I dont have cooling for the CPU and i dont want to Overheat it.
Or should I take a chill pill and calm down and wait for the cooling?
Thanks!

This is also an Asus A7V(mine). http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif But it has a Duron 600@1000mhz. The riser card is there to clear out some capacitors that usually come around the socket. This allows for a wider heatsink to be used. But like the FOP32 and FOP38(they are the same but with a different fan) you don't have to worry too much about capacitors because of it's thin base that clears the capacitors. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

The riser board contains the voltage regulation circuitry. This generates core voltage to a max of 1.85v.
You can do a mod on this to increase voltage output, but not for the faint hearted, confidence required.
All the best, Justy.

Well, just to let you all know, voogru had to jet. He keeps getting these beeps when he tries to boot up and so it won't POST at all.
Listen here: http://www.geocities.com/voogru/sound.wav
He says that that sound just keeps repeating over and over again when he tries to boot.
Also, whenever he plugs the puter in, it just starts to boot up (leading, of course, to the inevitable beeping). It's an ATX PS and Mobo, so maybe that's it? I couldn't tell him much, as I'm not terrible familiar with ATX myself.
You can post here if you'd like, or e-mail him @ voogru@softhome.net or voogru@hotmail.com
If you need any more info, you'll have to get it from him whenever he returns.

NOTE: Theres No CPU in the Mobo So I believe That May Just Be the Problem.
(Theres no CPU in there because I dont have any cooling and I dont want a fried CPU)
Thanks,

The "beeps" are probably from the POST (Power On Self Test) If there is an error at board level that prevents you from booting to a interface for trouble shooting then the BIOS communicates the problem to you through a series of coded beeps that you would have to look up for definition.
With no CPU in, I'd say there's a definite error at board level.
voogru
12-06-2000, 08:45 AM
Ok this is from the Asus Manual.
Asus BIOS Beep Codes
One Short error While displaying Logo- No error During POST
Long Beeps In an Endless Loops- No Dram Installed or detected.
One Long Beep Followed By three short beeps- Video Card Not Found or Detected
High frequency Beeps when system is working- CPU overheated system running at lower frequency
Im gojnna look for a PDF manal for you guys to look at if you want.

I hope theres nothing wrong with this mobo.

Yeah, you can put the older devices on the other IDE ports. I`ve got a few HD`s running on mine and they work just fine!
Can`t run CD-Roms and things like that, manual says HD`s only, or at least recommended!
If you can`t afford a newer board, the Abit BE6 has thesame IDE setup (8 devices). Suppose if you already had a CPU and other hardware you were happy with already, you could just change te Mobo. Dunno what`s different about the BE6-II, but the BE6 works fine for me.........
Till I feel the urge for 1000mhz+! Hee hee.....

Hey, voogru . ..
Quick question for you: What exactly is the board that's attached to the last expansion slot? I noticed there's a ribbon cable going to a header on the mobo. I've never seen that before, and I'm just curious.
That's one awesome machine you've got!

That's probably his mom's room, Randy. Now don't go getting ideas here. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
Just to let you know, Joel, his isn't actually alienware; it's one of those alienware clones. He told me where he got it, but I don't remember off hand. I'm sure he'll be along later today and he'll tell you all about it. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
And I agree with you, Joel. The silver one is pretty cool. I don't remember what it was exactly, but I remember hearing about this spray that you could put on it that would make it look "metallic." I like it the way it is, but when I saw the pic of that guy's case, it was even more awesome than the one at alienware's homepage. I'll look around and see if I can find it; I'll post back if I do.
Later.
