What happens when you try? Did you install them both in different directories? What file system did you use?

Hey Dragon.
Wow ya' asked moe questions than I did.
No....
I install one and the other won't install because
it recognizes the other one is on the hard drive.....
and vice-versa.

Well, first, install the oldest first..that is what I would do. I would install win 98 to the directory I would specify called "WIN98SE".
I would also use FAT32, as I am not sure that ME will even install on FAT16. I would install ME on a named directory called "WINME"
Try to put a bootable floppy in, like the win98 start up disk and get to a dos prompt. See if you can change the directory at the command prompt and insert the cd and attempt to run the install while in the current dir. Honestly, I am not sure if that will work, but is worth a shot. I usually have just done a dual boot in the past on one partition - two different directories.
Have you formatted both partitions? Also, when you boot with the CD (if that is how you did it), I think it should ask you which drive to install on....also, are they both FULL VERSION cd's?
post back and let me know what happens.....

Dragon,
When I go thru set up on one it says it will not setup because it is a older ver. so I am not to the point where I can change the directory.
the other way basically says the same only it is not an upgrade ver. so it will not set up.
I wonder if I set up win 98 on the D logical and then me on the c...
well I guess I will try this way.

I don't know why you would want to do this as 98 and ME are basically the same thing, and since I don't think either has a boot loader, you'll need to install one.
Now one can easily install two OSes on different partitions of any HD. For example, let's do NT and 98....
Take HD and partition 2 FAT parts (2 gig each), leave rest o space unparted.
Install 98 on first part, do drivers and get stable (lol, 98 STABLE???, lol).
Now install NT. It will see 98 part and ask where to install NT? Choose second FAT part, not unparted space. Do driver and get stable (lol, NT STABLE???, lol). NT comes with a boot loader that will allow you to choose either 98 or NT at startup.
Now you choose how to part rest o' space. I generally create a big FAT32 and big NTFS drive for apps on each OS.
I install OSes in FAT parts, as when failure occurs, DOS floppy let's me access both OS system files...
Do a search on this forum, there should be plenty of info on this matter.

Hi qball.
I just like to learn how to do things once in a while. Though it seems odd to do it with these operating systems it is a way to accomplish the task.
Thanks for the assistance.

Odd?? They are the same OS. One can do this wif only DOS.
One does not need 2 OSes, only two partitions, grasshopper....
