just installed new primary mast for a buddy. asked him for his old drive,(WD 4.3g)-was going to put it in my old P-120MHz for my daughter, but he broke the seal and screwed up the top r/w arm on top cyl. Is it worth fooling with? ....(replace arm?, run just the other three?, park top?...)

I seriously doubt there is something you can do about it. Sorry.

Unless you own a class 10 cleanroom, I wouldn't waste my time. I'll give you the example from IBM: the heads on a hard drive float over spinning platters at a height equivelent to a 747 flying at 1000 mph above the ground at a distance equal to 14 sheets of paper!
