I've been playing with designing my own web site. It was neat when I got done, now I just think it is plain ugly!!
http://www.theinnerweb.com
The hardest part was scanning all the pictures. I have more to do, but right now I want to focus on making the sight a lot better.
I recently purchased PhotoShop and was trying to learn it. What I'm looking for are resources online that teach basic to intermediate PhotoShop.
I am also looking for online resources for writing HTML. Specifically shared borders, frames and things like that.
I have a logo that I think I'm going to use (designed in PhotoShop) that I'll put up on my site for you to take a look at.
What I really want to do is make my sight look slick and professionally done.
Also any recommendations on books are welcome. I just want to hold off on buying for a few to save up a little money (plus I can ask for them for Christmas!!).

Try these two for HTML:
HTML Goodies.com (http://htmlgoodies.earthweb.com/)
NCSA guide to HTML (http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu///General/Internet/WWW/index.html)
I don't know any for PhotoShop, but like thxmanu said, it should come with a Tutorial CD; mine did.
Good luck!

P.S.- If you have the money sometime ($400 normally; $250 if you own a paid Adobe product), then get Adobe Illustrator; it's a GREAT program that allows you to create GREAT graphics.
A great book that you can learn some Photoshop techniques would be "Sybex, Mastering Photoshop for the Web" This book teaches techniques for beginners and advanced users who want to make web graphics. It teachers you simple things from scanning techniques to more advanced techniques like making roll-over buttons etc...
I'm a graphic artist, not a web designer, but I was able to learn quite easily with this book. The book is pretty much in plain English, so it will be quite easy for you to understand.
I make all my images using Adobe Photoshop6 and Image Ready, and do the web page setting using Adobe Go Live which is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Interface. You can place image files as you would in Photoshop layering. Learning HTML would not be a must in WYSISWY interface web applications, but it does help to take greater control of the environment.
Here are a a couple sites that I made using Photoshop, Image Ready, and Go Live. Everything you see in this site design was made from scratch, not copied.

Here is my site I just finished with Photoshop and Frontpage http://www.geocities.com/f1finishline/index.html thats after playing with both programs for a few weeks and help from these sites http://www.teamphotoshop.com/photoshop/tutorials/ps_tut.php http://pankpages.com/index.shtml http://webdesign.about.com/compute/webdesign/ http://www.adobe.com/products/tips/photoshop3.html
Hey, Cyclone, the site looks great! I see you are a big fan of Motor Sports!
I think you might want to add a margin to the the left side of the index page. The page is repeating itself at 1280 x 1024 resolution. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Didn't your Photoshop come with a tutorial cd? If it did, take the time to use it. I learned a great deal from this disk.

Don't bother trying to write your own html. When it comes to rollover buttons and even tables, writing your own code takes too much time.
Give Dreamweaver 3 a try. You can buy a how-to book for $15 and it will come with a 30 day trial version. It's the industry standard in web design and a fairly intuitive WYSIWYG html editor. Plus, it writes a far cleaner code than GoLive!. Dreamweaver also is bundled with Fireworks, a graphics editor that is designed with web design in mind. After you master these http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif, be sure to go on to Flash to really make your website sing.
