Do you have a CompUSA near you? If so, their generic brand of components seem to work fairly well.
Also at CompUSA, you can get a Hercules Gamesurround Muse XL for ~$30 or a Soundblaster PCI512 for ~$50. They both support four speaker output and the SB also supports four point surround. The SB is my choice, as I have one in all four of my computers.
The Soundblaster Live series is one step up from the PCI512 and will run you a little more money. Be careful with that one though, because there are known conflicts with it and some chipsets.
The higher end Soundblaster Audigy series will of course run even more money, and I believe I saw where there were some conflicts between it and some system setups as well.
Also, Turtle Beach makes really good soundcards.
I suggest you hit www.pricegrabber.com or www.pricewatch.com and find some that you are interested in. Then go find some reviews on them.
Happy shopping.
