Would the xeon with the 512 cache be usable in a home pc environment? I know they are alot of money, I was poking around dells website and was looking at the workstations and it didn't seem too far fetched. Some of the other components looked good and some of the stuff is not available when you configure a home pc.
Anyway, whats the story with the xeon at home???

The Intel Xeon cpu is more of a server type cpu. Or applications. Not very good for gaming though. From what I hear.

I'm building one for home use. I have had it with AMD and Via. 1.8 gig Prestonias can be found for $265 but the boards are not cheap. Plan on spending $200 to $400 more than an Athon MP system would cost. There a a bunch of folks on "Team Xeon" over at 2CPU. You may want drop in and take a look.
