i installed a VooDoo 5500 and boosted the ram to 195mgs added a new net card upgraded the power supply and added another fan.
the thing is the video card is an IDE device and so is the origianl net card and everytime I boot I get this "New Hardware Found" and I have to click cancel everytime cause I do not wish to use them or install them.
Is there anyway to have windows either ignore those devices or stop it from looking for new devices at start up?
Don't laugh but it is a old Compaq 5062 the IDE video card is an ATI Rage Pro (like to buy a gun and shoot it).
I asked Compaq and never got an answer.
Other than that works pretty good!

Your video card is a IDE device????????

I certainly hope is isn`t! By the way, which video card is listed as IDE?

From what I can tell, you have an AGP video card (the ATI card), and a PCI Voodoo card? Correct me if I`m wrong........

If the ATI card is a PCI card, then remove that, and slap in the Voodoo 5. I haven`t checked out the Voodoo 5`s, so I don`t know what configs you can get, but you didn`t put a AGP card in a PCI slot did you?

Sorry mate, we really need more specific info on all this. We`ll gladly help when we can work it out........

See ya later! ;0

the ati I know is not PCI (believe me I wish it was), I cannot find any other cards in the machine I took just about everything out cause I also also added another 10 gig to it also.
i am pretty sure it is an IDE device
and i cannot figure it out

I think that you mean that your Voodoo is an AGP card. IDE is used only for storage devices like CD-RWs, and hard drives.

I am assuming that your ATI Rage Pro was an AGP card as well. You could try making sure that you have removed your old ATI card in Windows Device Manager, and then installing the drivers for your new Voodoo 5 if you haven't already done this.
