Howdy. I just won it on ebay to replace My bad one. I'm not sure where to check. was wondering how big of a cpu can I put in it ?? it has a P2 233 slot 1 type. was wondering about a 400. Thanks Joe

Go look up the model no. on Asus' website. The specs should tell you everything you want to know about it and what processors it will support.

Here's the page for the manual. Download it and look up the answers to your questions. There seems to be several different revisions of that model number, so make sure you pick the right one. Cheers.

I had a Celeron 533 running using a generic sloket card.

I updated to the latest P2L97 BIOS and used the user settings.

So if I change the CPU. to lets say another P2 450 MHz. since I seen one on ebay. I would have to reinstall Bios. Do you use a floopy disk to do this with? I'm sure I can get it at there site. and copy it. But not sure how to install it. when I change it. The computer will ask me for an update at that time right??

You can't use any PII over 333 in that board due to the 66MHz BUS limitation of the motherboards chipset. PII's over 350 used a 100MHz BUS.

The Celeron-I on the other hand, uses a 66MHz BUS, a 533 can be fitted in the motherboard using a slotket adapter.

Ok now I'm starting to understand all the computer stuff. So the Bus Mhz is built into the motherboard, and not the CPU. So when I buy a mother Board I need to watch or ask what the Bus limatation are to insure it can handle a certain chip.

one other thing. Is it better to shut the computer off when not in use or let it run all the time ?? I might run a thread on that question to see what response I get. Might check and see if someone else has already done it.
