500 mhz K-6 AMD
184MB ram
20gb HD
530 Rev A2 (video card that came with the PC)

The only vid card that fits your specs would be a Kyro 11 4500. If you go to www.pricewatch.com you will find them for a reasonable price. It is a fairly good vid card, performs well and the price is within your reach.

Alright bud,
See - you're very limited because you don't have an AGP port. I don't know exactly what cards ARE available that have PCI interface - but I'm sure there can't be many NEW cards.
If I could give you some advice, I would recommend you invest in a new motherboard with an AGP port. If you feel you need to upgrade you may as well spend a little more and do it properly.
You could get a fairly standard 3D card and find that it performs much better than what you have at the moment simply because it's AGP. Your range of choice would be much bigger then also.
The rest of your system isn't lagging behind - you've plenty of memory and a fairly good processor, but your graphics card is definitely the bottle neck, and I'm afraid it'll continue to be until you get a motherboard with an AGP port.

WAAAH, the Kyro II is a good card, but matching it was a 500mhz CPU would kill it. (And there is no PCI version)
I would recommend the following cards:
3dfx Voodoo 5 5500
GeForce 2 MX
ATI Radeon 32mb
Although a GeForce 2 MX is cheaper, it is happered by the much slower PCI bus. The Voodoo is a little bit more expensive (Still under $100) but has always did really good on PCI. The downside to Vood is that 3dfx has died, there are 3rd part drivers though. The Radeon is a good all around card, the downside is ATI's somewhat shoddy drivers.
Each card has an advantage and disadvantage, it's up to you in the end.
In the end I would slightly tell you to get a GeForce 2 MX, with the lower CPU, the T&L unit helps the system out a lot.

The Radeon vid card is the winner in this situation. It will give you a much prettier screen to look at, the drivers for the latest Radeon will work with that Radeon you are looking at. Radeon Video drivers work with all Radeon cards. nVidia does not have this feature. If you have a GF2 you must use drivers for the GF2 etc. I will recommend the Radeon hands down. It will play any games now and through this year without any problems.
The AA features of the Radeon + 32bit color does not slow down the video card like it will with the nVidia card. nVidia cards do not perform well at 32bit color depth.
