I am in the process of upgrading my Dell MMX200 case with a new mobo, CPU and power supply. Everything was going along fine until I came to connecting the wires from the front of the case (power switch, reset, etc)to the motherboard. Dell used a flat cable into one connector, the new motherboard is set up so that I need individual connectors for each (power switch, reset, HDLED, PowerLED). Has anyone in the group ever split the wires in a cable and run individual wires from it. If so where can I get the single connectors, I need one with three wires and 3 with two wires.

I've done something similar on a BB unit I gutted.

The connector that went to the mobo has some little brass female connectors.

See if there is a tab, nearly microscopic that you can pull up and slide the female connector out of the harness end.

I then used some tiny heat shrink insulation and slid them onto the new mobo, viola !

My power light and HD lights were swapped but that was a quick fix, use a voltmeter if the mobo isn't marked or the original wires are not obvious as to their purpose.

gdubs,

I recycled my old mmx166 dell computer when I upgraded the box. I found the same situation you had when I started hooking up the wires.

After investigation, I found out that the wires were like u said, it was all connected to a square flat panel on the front.

Solution, trace the wires and solder the wires permanently like the generic case. The power supply switch and reset switch.

After soldering the wires, I was able to use any motherboard I put on it. i.e. Intel or AMD mobo type.

Hope this help. Have used that case for at least three years now, one of my favorite case I ever owned.
