I bought a CD-R , a HP 8250i.
The thing works fine, except the drive tray falls out.
So I wrote them using THEIR template which included the s/n, date of purchase etc.
They write back wanting all kinds of non-releveant information, WHAT ??

system configuration information.
This information will help us more
accurately identify the issues at hand, and allow us to give you a more
thorough response.
- Model of HP CD-Writer drive:
- CD-Writer serial number. [Serial number may be located on a small
white label located on the underside the disk tray]:
- Date of Purchase:
- CD-R Software and version Number [see Help and About for version #]:
- What is the firmware version:
- Type (CD-R/CD-RW) and Brand of media used:
- Specific Error Number and/or Error Message:
- List how your CD-Writer is configured:
* Primary or Secondary IDE Controller:
* Master or Slave:
* What other device, if any, is sharing that controller:
- Look in the Windows Device Manager (click Start, Settings, Control
Panel, double click on the System icon, then click on the Device
Manager
tab). Double click on "Hard disk controllers".
You should see something like this:
Intel 82371 xx/xx PCI BusMaster IDE controller
Primary IDE Controller (dual fifo)
Secondary IDE Controller (dual fifo)
Please include the exact wording for the Hard disk controllers in your
next email. We need to have all three lines.
- PC Brand and Model:
- CPU/MHz:
- Operating System (e.g. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, etc.):
- RAM:
- Hard Drive Type (IDE, SCSI) and Capacity & is overlay software
installed:
