Hi . I read that you are an AMD fanatic. Great. I like to be on the same side with you. I am planning to buy a new system and I am little bit confused which combinaition do I deal with.. Sure you won't advice an Intel processor...Even the Northwood 512 cache?? Great ,the Intel D850 GB deliver a 3.2 gb/s bandwith or transfer, RDram Pc800... I'd like to go with AMD and without arguying!!! They said to me on the Technical support at sysopt that AMD (Athlon XP) is half price, double performance if we compare it with Intel CPU (with Crucial DDR 266/pc2100).
What do I do? Do I buy the Athlon XP 1800+ ,or do I wait the AMD Hammer to be released and buy the 2nd product after the top of the line CPU?? If you want to help me,please give me the better combinaition:
CPU, Motherboard, Ram (?) ,VGA,HD (ATA 133??) PSU.
Thanks a lot !

posthumous_GRIN, R u an Intel Fanatic?? Convince me because i am lost. Which brand do I go for? which combinaition? You know that we don't built our new system everyday so it has to be a powerful one and to last a couple of years. This PC will be used for everything excludind the CAD or rendering or applications that make the pc on its knees!

Well, I was just being facetious and I am neither an intel nor amd "fanatic", I have used both and am currently using AMd and I am pleased. My two reasons for switching to amd were this, amd chips are just cheaper and that was important to me and amd is the underdog and I wanted to support them. That is it. You should just research each company and make a choice. I mean, if you get a p4 or an XP, either way, I think you are going to be happy so it is entirely your choice...

Thanks posthumous_GRIN.
I appreciate your reply and advice. Well I'll go for the cheaper and I'll go for AMD(perhaps 1900+,512 mb DDR 266 pc2100 crucial). Wish me the best in this new system which will be born soon :)
Any suggested items are highly appreciated!!

Hey Commandos sorry to be getting back to you so late. I was planning on building another PC this spring AMD dual using an ASUS mobo. I have temporarily put that on hold. Why?? I want to test out that Hammer I have been hearing so much about for the last 2 years. 3400 MHZ should be a screamer.
One of the main reasons for my preference for AMD. Intel was like Microsoft is right now. Consumers really didnt have a choice and Intel took advantaged of the situation. Pricing Procs entirely to high.
