Sys Specs:
ECS K7S5A (mobo)
Athlon Thunderbird 1.4ghz
Radeon 7500
... other specs not really neccessary

Problem:
Windows 98SE bootup freezes into a blank screen, and when i can get Windows98 to boot, it phreezes after bout 50-60min, usually when performing a simple task (i.e. cdplayer or mp3player)
I think the hibernation (standby or watever), causes my system to crash, but the boot-up phreeze i dont understand.
This is all do to the vid card cause windows reports it is a bad driver... but i do have the newest ones from ATI...
anyone with experience with the 7500 or other ATI product help please,
yea i kno they make cr*ppy drivers
also i have gone through all the ATI website troubleshooters...

What exactly does Windows do to report bad drivers? Also, what driver version are you using? It might also be useful to know how long you have had Windows installed without a reformat. Another thing: Is your monitor detected properly? Problems can arise if you don't have the right drivers for your monitor. This could also be caused by a simple cooling issue. If you have Hardware Monitor support, then check out your CPU temps. If they are a bit high, then that could be part of the problem of frerezing up. I know I threw a whole lot at ya, but there could be a lot of potential sources of this problem. Good luck,

yeah i have a athlon 900, 7500. 6 out of 8 drivers i'll get a black screen at first boot or reboot(7189,7197,7199,9005,9012,9013) only drivers that work reliably are the 9008, 9016. i was on the phone with ATI tech support for an hour no help. clean install with all drivers, updated agp drivers, flashed bios, completely reformated, no go. i think its a driver issue or athlon/mobo/driver.i *****ed about this on another forum and all i heard was "if it was drivers everybody would be having problems". why would some drivers work perfectly while other ones not? i definitely think its a driver issue.

btw its ironic that 9016 drivers(sapphire tech)work very well while ati's don't.
